Jacobus is an attorney with law offices in Bellaire,
Texas, and Senior Vice-President of Charter Title Company in Houston, Texas. He
is Board Certified by the State Bar of Texas Board of Legal Specialization in
both Residential and Commercial Real Estate Law.He is a member of the Houston Real Estate Lawyers Council, and he has served as chairman of the Real Estate Section of the Houston Bar Association, president of the Real Estate Educators Association, and Course Director for the Advanced Real Estate Law course for the State Bar of Texas. He has served as chairman of the American Bar Association committee on Real Estate Brokers and Brokerage, and served on the board of trustees for the Appraisal Foundation. He is listed in Woodward/White's "The Best Lawyers in America," Martindale-Hubbell's "Bar Registry of Preeminant Lawyers," and Marquis' "Who's Who in the World." He has recently been elected to the Council of the Real Estate, Probate, and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He is the author of Texas Real Estate, now in its 8th edition; Texas Real Estate Law, 9th edition; Real Estate: An Introduction to the Profession, and Real Estate Principles, both in their 9th edition; and Texas Title Insurance. He is the editor-in-chief of the Texas Forms Manual for Real Estate and Title Documentation, co-author of Texas Real Estate Brokerage and Law of Agency, and Keeping Current with Texas Real Estate MCE. He is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Houston Law Center, and a frequent speaker at State Bar of Texas courses, Texas Land Title Association courses, Real Estate Educators Association annual conferences, and the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials ("ARELLO") National Conferences. He has served as Mayor of Bellaire, Texas, Secretary/Treasurer of the Harris County Mayors and Councils Association, and was a Scoutmaster at the 1999 Boy Scout World Jamboree in Chile.
